Aims, contents and method of the course
The bauplan of all major fossil vertebrates will be discussed as well as from the taxonomic relevant extant taxa. Therefor the important groups of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals are the main topic of this course. The evolutionary process and chronological appearance of the different taxa is the second topic of this course.
Assessment and permitted materials
Zwei Zwischenprüfungen, am 14.11.2013 und am 25.01.2014. Dabei werden die morphologischen Formenkenntnisse geprüft: die Studierenden bekommen Material vorgelegt, welches sie mit Hilfe der von ihnen selbst während des Kurses angefertigten Unterlagen (=Zeichungen) Bestimmen müssen. Die Zwischenprüfungen erfolgen schriftlich.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To gain first practical insight into the evolution of vertebrates and their fossil record. The students will have an overall knowledge about the bauplan of fossil vertebrates, their distribution in time.
Examination topics
Anschließend an die Vorlesung "Paläodiversität der Vertebrata": es wird Material vorgelegt, welches die StudentInnen erarbeiten müssen, teilweise in Form von Zeichnungen.
