Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This practical field course involves training in Vienna followed by a 5-week stay between July and September at one of the two sea turtle nesting beaches in Turkey (Mediterranean). Adult turtles are tagged and measured, tracks documented, nests located and protected, hatchlings counted and hatching success determined. This is accompanied by nest temperature measurements and public relations work. First-hand species protection and nature conservation experience in an international setting! (see our website: www.seaturtlecourse.jimdo.com)
Assessment and permitted materials
The grade for this course is determined by four different factors: the talk the student gives during the training course in Vienna (5%); a short quiz (5%); the quality of the fieldwork (30%); and the written report at the end of the field season 60%).
