Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Breeding of experimental animals and farm animals requires the fundamental understanding of the physiology of reproduction. The field biotechnology of reproduction includes artificial insemination (AI), in vitro production of embryos (IVP), embyro transfer (ET) and cyropreservation of gametes or embryos. Recently biotechnology was extended to genetic engineering, i.e. gene transfer and targeted or random mutagenesis. The aims, methods and limitations of biotechnology in animal production are presented and discussed.
