Aims, contents and method of the course
Morphometrics is the statistical analysis of biological forms. It is widely applied in zoological, anthropological, and medical research. In this project practicum we collect and analyze morphometric data to address zoological and anthropological research questions. The basics of classical morphometrics, geometric morphometrics, and multivariate statistics will be taught within a biological context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written report, practical work, oral exams, presence
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Basic understanding of classical and geometric morphometrics for biological research; application of these methods to investigate simple research questions.
Examination topics
Lectures, empirical data acquisition, analysis and interpretation of data, written report
