300231 VO Behavioural biology of aquatic vertebrates (2008S)

The lectures on behavioural biology will start with fishes, followed in May by whales and dolphins. In the beginning the role of different communication channels (optic, acoustic, vibratory, electric, olfactory) in the behaviour of each animal group will be discussed. This will be followed by a review of key topics in behavioural ecology (foraging, competition, mating, parental care, migration). Students can take a written exam at the end of June.
