Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aim: Understanding the function of plant cells and their intracellular structures, also in comparison with procaryotes and other eucaryotic cells.
We learn about the characteristics of membranes, organelles, the nucleus, cytoskeleton, vacuole, and the cell wall, and which major proteins are involved. This knowledge is the basis for the understanding of physiological processes, plants/cells as an osmotic system, mitosis/meiosis, cell and organ differentiation, ecological behaviour of plants and applied cell biology. The main techniques in cell biology are explained and discussed.
