The course will be done between 7 and 28 September 2013 in collaboration with the Agricultural University in Bogor (Indonesia), hence course language is English during field work.
MANDATORY meeting for final allocation of available places in this course takes place on 06 March 2013, 12:00 h, in the Lecture Hall, Rennweg 14. At this meeting we will also announce the detailed time schedule.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Assessment of tropical biodiversity (birds, butterflies), colonization ecology of remote habitat islands, ecology of succession of animal communities, concepts in island biogeography and alternative assembly rules.

Assessment and permitted materials

A written report has to be submitted after the end of the course. This report must be written in English.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Examination topics

Field work (point census counts, transect counts), multivariate analysis of biodiversity data, tackling the problem of incomplete surveys and sampling errors in field ecology.
