Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture discusses the organization, development and function of the olfactory system. Here we will directly compare the molecular and cellular components critical for olfaction between insects and mammals. The lecture will cover a broad range of topics, starting with the differentiation of sensory neurons and completing with the role of olfaction in social interactions of animals.
