Field work will be conducted at three different sites: Donau-Auen National Park (8-9 May 2014), Rax (3-5 June 2014) and Großglockner (5 days in the period 15-21 September 2014). To attend the first meeting on 3 March 2014 at 11 a.m. (lecture hall, Rennweg 14) is obligatory.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction on standardized methods to survey bird communities, to estimate population densities of selected target species and to record bird migration.
Assessment and permitted materials
A report written in English has to be submitted after the end of the course.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Acquiring skills in bird identification; field methods: point counts to record bird communities; population density estimates using "Distance Sampling"; recording bird migration activity using standardized observations and mist-netting; acquiring skills in data analysis
