Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course deals with the most important Higher Plants of the Middle European flora concerning their characteristics, their habitats and their role in the most important vegetation types in the surroundings of Vienna
Assessment and permitted materials
25%: first interim test in the field on the topics of the first excursion
25%: second interim test in the field on the topics of the second excursion
(for both interim tests students can use their field notes)
50%: written protocol on both (!) excursions: species list sorted by vegetation type plus a short and single characterisation per each vegetation type; a corrected version of the protocol may be submitted after a first check, but only if received until the 30. June 2014. The final deadline for finishing this course is 31. July 2014!

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students can identify and describe the most important vegetation types of the surroundings of Vienna and their most relevant constituent species (including their morphological characteristics and diagnostic features).

Field course with demonstration of objects and autonomous determination of plant species and their ecological position
