Students are familiar with botanical-morphological terminology and its application to describing and determining of seed plants. Students know the most important vascular plant species of the central European flora including their ecological position.

    Contents:
Comparative morphology and systematics of seed plants and terminological tool box for their determination. 200 important species of the Central European Flora and their ecological position.

    Methods:
Introductory lecture by the course leader; subsequently, students analyse the main objects using magnifying glases or stereo microscopes (including making scientific schematic drawings), in which endeavour they are supported by the course leaders

    Costs:
    ca. 50 Euro

    c) Determination and analysis of an unknown plant (i.e., one that has not been covered during the course) and tabular comparsion of families (in unit 14): 20 points
    d) oral final exam (on all topics covered during the course): 20 points
Assessment starts on the first course day and finishes with the final oral exam. The first three assessments (a-c in the above list) are made during the course units, the fourth one (d in the above list) can be made the latest until the 20th September 2024.
