Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Research in biogeochemistry and ecosystem ecology requires the quantitative estimation of gross and net fluxes as well as of ecosystem pools at various scales. We will demonstrate a range of techniques, from classical analytical chemistry, to advanced chromatographic and isotopic techniques, and allow students to get hands-on training on state-of-the-art equipment.
Assessment and permitted materials
Practical work in the laboratory (60%). Presentation of group work in oral (20%) and written form (20%).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will understand basic principles of laboratory and field techniques in biogeochemistry and ecosystem ecology. They will be familiar with quantitative analytical methods and with "good laboratory practice".
