Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Using the cnidarians Hydra and Nematostella and the polychaete worm Platynereis as model systems, we will perform a selection of experiments in the field of cell- and developmental biology: determine patterns of proliferation by BrdU incorporation and detection, cellular differentiation kinetics, maceration, regeneration assays, transplantations, microinjections and gene manipulations, isolation of RNA, cDNA, PCR, cloning of candidate genes, generation of probes and in situ hybridisation of whole mounts under various developmental conditions.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Vordiplom or Bachelor are prerequisite for attendence of this course. in the case of more applicants than available places preference will be given to students with theoretical knowledge in Molecular Developmental Biology, and practical knowledge in Molecular Biology and / or in zoological-microscopical courses.
