Aims, contents and method of the course
The evolution and modes of sexual and asexual reproduction of eukaryotic organisms will be presented. The effects of mode of reproduction of population structure, ecology and speciation will be shown for plants and animals. Fundamental knowledge of evolutionary theory and information on modern research programs and applications will be given.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Understanding of a fundamental question of evolutionary biology ("paradox of sex") and the related theory. Knowledge of the most important forms of reproduction in eukaryotes with a focus on plants and animals. Knowledge of modern reseacrh prgrams and applications.
