Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

1) Variability in genomes: genome resequencing and SNP calling
(also short discussion of ChIP-Seq)
2) Functional genomics on RNA level: Microarrays, SAGE, RNASeq; Data normalization, differential expression, clustering, GSEA and pathway analysis
3) Functional genomics on protein level: protein-protein interaction screening, protein identification, data integration and interaction networks

Assessment and permitted materials

Report (to be written in workgroups).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Gaining the theoretical background to understand the basic principles of bioanalytical methods and related bioinformatic approaches; practical application of popular software tools to sample data (e.g. raw data from important publications), critical evaluation and interpretation of results.

Examination topics

Literature seminars on relevant papers, practical work using programs like Galaxy.
