This seminar, which will be held in English and will complement the lecture series "Microbial communities of selected ecosystems", aims at providing an overview of current topics in molecular microbial ecology. Each participating student will be asked to present an extended summary of distributed literature, which will subsequently be discussed with the other participants. Topics covered will range from microbial communities in aquatic and terrestric ecosystems over communication among bacteria (Quorum Sensing) to interactions between pro- and eukaryotes.
