Aims, contents and method of the course
The subject taught introduces into the comparative fundamentals of development: cleavages; diploblasty and gastrulation; the fate of the blastopore (mouth and anus); origin, kinds of formation and diversity in the final differentiation of the middle body layer (mesoblastema). The two main types of excretory systems; the two nervous systems. Analogies (homoplasies) and homologies among larval types; moulting, metamorphosis and metagenesis; the neurula stage and the neurenteric canal in chordates.
