Aims, contents and method of the course

- basics of different light microscopical methods,

- fluorescence microscopy and modern laser scanning microscopy

- computer enhanced video- and UV-microscopy

- micromanipulation and micorinjection

- documentation on video and film.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Light microscopical techniques are standards for biological questions; therefore, the knowledge of these methods is essential in biology. This course is dealing with the methods that are linked to the light microscope.

Examination topics

Light microsc.: bright field, dark field, phase- and interference contrast, polarization

Fluorescence micr.: conventioanal and confocal laser scanning microsc.
