Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture deals with basic ideas and methods of molecular evolutionary genetics, which will be illustrated by current research and classical papers. The topics comprise gene evolution, chromosome evolution, genome evolution, mobile DNA, non-coding DNA, neutral vs. adaptive evolution, epigenetics, molecular systematics, homology at the DNA level, molecular markers (DNA-sequences, mikrosatellites), "ancient DNA", phylogenetic trees, phylogeography, convergence, gene introgression, species concepts and speciation, conservation genetics, family pedigrees
