Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

During this project course anatomical and morphological structures of freshwater fishes will be investigated and their functional significance determined, e.g. (1) pharyngeal jaws: the *second mouth* of fishes, (2) osteology of cyprinids and percids, a comparison of (3) the lateral-line system and its significance for fishes and (4) the threespine stickleback, a model species for evolutionary biology.

Assessment and permitted materials

Anwesenheitspflicht; Mitarbeit im Praktikum, auch an anderen Forschungseinrichtungen; Erarbeiten von Ergebnissen am Studienmaterial; schriftliche Projektarbeit von ca. 3.500 Wörtern.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Ziel ist das Erlernen von Methoden um anatomische Strukturen untersuchen und darstellen zu können; Erfassen und Analysieren der Daten; Erarbeiten von Informationen aus Publikationen und Internet. Verfassen schriftlicher Berichte (Text und Abbildungen); Präsentation in Referaten.
