Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course provides an overview introduces basic concepts of molecular evolution, phylogenetic sequence analysis, and phylogenetic treeing methods. This knowledge is applied in practical exercises with online databases, web-based tools for sequence analysis and the phylogeny software package ARB. The program ARB is a comprehensive, worldwide-used software environment for comparative sequence analysis and phylogenetic inference, with a focus on ribosomal RNA. Participants are also introduced into the taxonomy and diversity of bacteria and archaea.
