Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This class will be held in English.
The course is developed to strengthen the methodological and analytical skills of the students. We cover all the different phases of scientific research with a specific focus on the field of Cognitive Biology. The course material is focussed on three core scientific competencies: (1) planning and running experiments, (2) statistics, (3) scientific diffusion.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participants should attend all class appointments, and complete all assignments. Most of the homework is completed in small groups and includes (among others) experimental design, and the preparation and presentation of a scientific poster.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

-Attendance of all sessions
-Written homework
-Oral Presentation
-Active participation

Examination topics

The course comprises a combination of lectures, individual work, and group work/discussion.
As the class is 'Pruefungsimmanent' / continuously assessed, attendance of all sessions is required.
