Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar is building upon the previous knowledge of the evolution of man and offers a detailed examination with a selected chapter of hominid evolution. Topics span from anatomical aspects (bipedalism, brain, mastication, metabolism, etc.) to specific aspects of known hominoid groups (systematics, morphology, ecology, behaviour, artefacts, etc.) and cross connections in the context of evolutionary science (genetics, dating, evolutionary theories, religion, etc.). Participants have to compose an essay as well as a summarising plenary presentation. It is of special importance that students will take up their own position which they will defend during general discussion
