Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture series gives insight into the emerging field of restoration ecology and its application in nature conservation. Based on the discussion of relevant ecological theories (eg. ecosystem-dynamics, resilience, sucession) the potential of restroative measures in nature conservation will be demonstrated by selected cases and overview of state-of-the-art restoration concepts (eg. regeneration of bogs and mires, revitalization of rivers, reintroduction of locally extinct species, reestablishment or mimicking of traditional land-use-systems) will be given.
