Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture series gives a summary on ecological theories and concepts (viable populations, island theory, mosaic-cycle concept, hemeroby etc.) which represent fundamental principles for the fields of conservation biology and biodiversity management. Further topics are different levels and approaches of conservation concern, such as genetic diversity, species diversity, habitat diversity, and landscape diversity. Special attention will be given to causes and effects of losses of biological diversity and to relevant conservation strategies.
