The seminar will be a blockseminar on 2 or 3 afternoons. The dates will be determined in the preliminary discussion. Attendance of this preliminary discussion is obligatory: It will take place on October 4th, 10:00 am in the seminar room of the Division of Archaea Biology and Ecogenomics, Biozentrum Althanstr. 14, 1090 Vienna

Aims, contents and method of the course

Newest publications in the field of microbiology will be presented by the students and will be subsequently discussed. This years topics will focus around the theme of evolution, i.e. evolution of early life forms, microbial evolution, evolution of metabolism, evolution of early eukaryotic cells etc.

Assessment and permitted materials

assessment: Attendance, oral presentation, writing of a short concept and abstract after the talk.
