Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students will design and carry out projects using x-ray microtomographic (microCT) imaging of small biological samples and produce a research report in the form of a poster or paper. Techniques will include applications of image processing and analysis software to 2- and 3-D images, 3-D image reconstruction and visualisation, and 3-D modeling.
Assessment and permitted materials
Based on attendance, participation, project proposal, and final presentation.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will learn to write a project proposal, carry out a small research project, and how to present the results, while learning techniques and applications of 3D microscopic imaging.
Examination topics
Seminar discussions, independent reading, and small-group work with instructors.
Reading list
Literature specific to each project will be chosen by the instructors and students during development of the projects.
