Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture deals with modern state of the art methods and applications in molecular cell biological research. It is designed for students advanced enough to be already familiar with the basic theory and basic practical approaches in cell and molecular biology (eg: tissue culture, transfection, PCR, etc). The taught subjects are adapted annually to allow incorporation of new developments in the field. Currenly the topics include: modern light microscopy techniques, life cell imaging, epigenetic analyses, genome editing and CRISPR technology, analyses of gene expression, protein-protein interactions, DNA repair techniques, structural biology methods and proteomic approaches.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
It is the principle aim of this lecture series to give people advanced in their study an overview on selected techniques and technologies which are beyond standard textbook knowledge. A series of specialists, who also work with these techniques in everyday lab-life, will allow students to get a deeper insight into how profound scientific research is conducted on a methodological level.
