Aims, contents and method of the course

A comprehensive knowledge of species is an important requirement to quantify the conservation relevance of human activities on habitats and their species assemblages. In the framework of this course we will give an introduction on the flora of the Vienna region. Furthermore, participants will learn the identification of species and higher taxa.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation; photo herbarium; written examination.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

You should know and recognize the presented plant species and families. Moreover, you should understand the logic of a determination key and be able to use it.

Examination topics

224 species of vascular plants, characters of 14 big families.
