Aims, contents and method of the course
Relevant topics of fish ecology (diversity, food and feeding, growth, reproduction, predator-prey relationships, population dynamics and early-life history) are presented and discussed on the basis of new literature.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written examen
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Aim of this lecture is to provide a better understanding of functional ecological processes in fish communities based on scientific hypotheses and results. Contemporary ecological theories, ideas and models will be used to highlight the reaction of individual fish and fish communities towards the variability of the environment and which strategies have been evolved to enhance growth, reproduction, mortality-loss and fitness.
Examination topics
