Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture focuses on the controls of biogeochemical cyles, specifically of the carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycle in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. A range of advanced ecologocal concepts and theories with regard to ecosystem ecology will complement the course.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam with in-person attendance.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Good knowledge of all aspects and methods of biogeochemistry and ecosystems, which is covered during the lectures. Specifically, successful students must be able to summarize advanced theories and concepts in ecosystem ecology and biogeochemistry and to apply them to selected case studies from terrestrial and
aquatic ecosystems.Written exam: four questions (6 points each) on the entire lecture material. More than half of the attainable points must be achieved in order to successfully complete the exam.
24-22 points (very good, 1); 21-19 (good, 2); 18-16 (satisfactory, 3); 15-13 (sufficient, 4); <13 (failed, 5)
