The lecture 'Struktur und Funktion der Pflanze' consists of two main parts. The first part deals with the special features of plant cells and the second part combines anatomy and physiology of the plant organs (root, stem, leaf) and gives insight to developmental processes (e.g. germination).Part 1: The plant cell
Chloroplasts - photosynthesis at biochemical level
Cell wall & vacuole, water relations on the cellular level
Other organelles
Comparison of different cell types
Endosymbiont hypothesisPart 2: Seeds (storage compounds)
Germination (-phytohormones; -phytochrom; -plant movements)
Roots ( -anatomy, morphology; -mineral metabolism)
Stems (-anatomy, especially wood anatomy; -transport systems; -water relations)
Leaves (-anatomy; -functioning of stomata; -photosynthesis C3, C4, CAM)
