Aims, contents and method of the course

Cultural Anthropology and History of Ethiopia is the branch of anthropology in the University of Vienna that studies cultural variation among Ethiopian nationalities and ethnic groups in one side and emphasising the back ground history of the country from the old history till the modern one.

This program brings comprehensive knowledge of the diversity of Ethiopian cultures, social and material aspects of human existence in East Africa. It is also important to convey how important the connection between anthropology and the history of Ethiopia is, as the known finds are the oldest whole skeletons (Ardi, Lucy, Dekika, etc.) of human nature.

39-44 points: Good
32-38 points: Satisfactory
25-31 points: Sufficient

Examination topics

The lecture brings comprehensive knowledge about the diversity of Ethiopian cultures, social and material aspects of human existence in East Africa. It is also important to convey how important the connection between anthropology and history Ethiopia is, as it is the oldest whole skeleton (ARDI; LUCY; DEKIKA;etc. ) of human nature.

On the basis of classical studies from different cultural anthropological disciplines, an exemplary understanding of methods and different approaches to research are addressed as well as related questions and problems are addressed.
