300450 VO Ecology and Biogeography of the Alpine flora (2007W)

This lecture series provides an introduction to living conditions and ecology of plants of the Alps. As an introduction, the tectonic formation of the Alps, their geological structure and relevant abiotic parameters governing plant life in the alpine zone will be highlighted. I will put a focus on biogeographic topics including brand-new research data. Towards the end of the lecture series, important alpine plant communities of the Eastern Alps will be characterised.
