Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture reviews the anatomy and physiology of plants with special emphasis on the information relevant for school teachers. The subjects include structure and functioning of plant cells, nucleus, cell division, cell types, tissues and their position and anatomy and function in plant organs. Root: tissue types, longitudinal and cross section, water and nutrient uptake. Stem: primary stem and secondary changes, transport auf water and assimilates. Leaf: tissues, specialised cells, stomata. Metamorphoses of plant organs. Hierarchical organisation of photosynthetic organisms. Physiology: Plant growth, nutrient physiology, respiration, photosynthesis, movement of plant organs, parasitic plants.
