Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this practical course the patch clamp method of measuring transmembrane ionic currents will be introduced and applied to a neuronal cell line. Thereby, voltage-activated ionic currents, which provide the basis for the electrical discharge behaviour of neurons, as well as ligand-activated ionic currents (such as those evoked by neurotransmitters via ionotropic receptors) will be monitored electrophysiologically.
