Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Writing and reading of scientific papers is a basic skill of scientific work. The most important writing and reading strategies will be discussed in this lecture, as well as their application in purpose of the different stages in scientific text production.
We will discuss the most important paradigms: How is scientific language characterised? What does it mean to discuss scientific texts in an academic setting? How can I plan a large scientific Text like a thesis or a dissertation? What looks a good research question like? How becomes a text well structured? How can I transform own results and theories in scientific papers?
Additionally some models for planning, timing and dimension of a scientific writing project will be presented, as well as the importance of good text structure- beginning with the content up to the sentence structure.
Within this seminar students will have the possibility to experience writing as an important cognitive strategy of scientific work, and practise a selection of different writing and reading techniques.
