Preliminary meeting: 11. October 2022, 4:30 p.m. Course room (Kurssaal) of the Natural History Museum Vienna, Burgring 7, side entrance.
The course will take place as a blocked course from 16 -22. January 2023.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Practical course for DNA-analyses of museum material (aDNA): special requirements and procedures for primer design, sample taking, DNA extraction and PCR amplification of specific marker sequences, as well as data evaluation and discussion of results.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance on at least 3 days is indispensable for a positive graduation.
1) Active participation in practical work and discussions : 40%
3) presentation and abstract of own work 40%
3) short written exam (3-4 questions) during the course 20%
