Preliminary meeting: 4. October 2023, 4:30 p.m. Course room (Kurssaal) of the Natural History Museum Vienna, Burgring 7, side entrance.
The course will take place as a blocked course in the week 15 -19 January 2024.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Practical course for DNA-analyses of museum material (aDNA): special requirements and procedures for primer design, sample taking, DNA extraction and PCR amplification of specific marker sequences, as well as data evaluation and discussion of results.
Target group: Master students

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance on at least 3 days is indispensable for a positive graduation.
1) Active participation in practical work and discussions: 40%
3) presentation: 40%
3) short written exam (3-4 questions) during the course: 20%
