Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Social insects have reached a level of organisational complexity that is comparable to that of the human society or even exceeds it. This course comprises various aspects of the evolution, ecology, and behaviour of social insects. Major topics of the course will concentrate on questions concerning how and why such complex insect societies evolved from solitary insects, and how they perpetuate. Emphasis is on social hymenopterans, i.e. bees, ants, and wasps
