Aims, contents and method of the course
The animal determination courses include vertebrates and major groups of invertebrates in particular insects. The focus is laid on popular, common and school-relevant groups of the Austrian fauna.

Aims, contents and method of the course
Thirteen lectures are given to review basic zoological taxonomy of characteristics in the common indigenous animal groups including vertebrates and invertebrates, especially insects. Using literature the students learn do determine families or commune species, which should be known to every biologist.

Information
Assessment and permitted materials
Anwesenheitskontrolle, 3 Zwischentestate mit Aufgaben aus bereits absolvierten Kurstagen (1. Testat: 2 Punkte, 2. und 3. Testat je max. 6 Punkte), Abschlussklausur: Bestimmung von Tieren mit Bestimmungsunterlagen und Binokular (max. 8 Punkte); positiver Abschluss erfordert 12 Punkte. Alle Termine werden am Beginn bekannt gegeben.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Using detemination literature the students are able to determine animals; the students know the characteristic features and have an overview about the biodiversity of the Austrian fauna.
Examination topics
Einführungsvortrag, anschließend selbständige Bestimmungsarbeit an ausgeteilten Tierpräparaten mit Bestimmungsliteratur und gegebenenfalls der Hilfe eines Binokulars, bei Anwesenheit der Kursleiter und Tutoren. Unterlagen werden über die Lernplattform zur Verfügung gestellt.
