Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will get an overview over the following topics:
Signals and cues, true communication and interception, misinformation and manipulation, Advantages and disadvantages of signaling.
Communication modalities: Acoustical, visual, vibrational, electric, chemical and tactile communication; Signal Production, propagation and signal Perception;
Behavioural contexts: Conflict resolution, Territorial defense, mating, social interactions, parent-offspring-interaction, environmental context, communication networks.
Anthropogenic influence on animal communication.

COVID-19 update
Die Prüfung wird als Online-Prüfung mit offenen Fragen im „open-book-format“ durchgeführt. Die Prüfungsfragen können innerhalb von 60 Minuten beantwortet werden und die restliche Zeit (siehe oben) steht Ihnen für die technischen Arbeitsschritte zur Verfügung. Sie können die Prüfung jederzeit im vorgegebenen Zeitfenster abgeben.

Schriftliche Prüfung mit 6 Fragen.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Ziel der Vorlesung ist es den Studierenden umfassende Kenntnisse über die Vielfalt der Kommunikationsformen im Tierreich und die dahinter liegenden Mechanismen zu vermitteln.
