Aims, contents and method of the course
Ants are eusocial (or socially parasitic) insects, which often play key roles in terrestrial ecosystems. The lecture series gives an overview of socio-biology and functioning of ant societies. In addition, the role of ants in food webs an their manifold interactions with other organisms (such as animals, plants, fungi and bacteria) is addressed.
