This practical class exemplary introduces into theories and methods of biotic interactions in a chemical ecological context. Arabidopsis thaliana will serve as model plant. Glucosinolates represent characteristic constituents of Arabidopsis. We will focus on the following interactions in simple experiments: defense against microbes and herbivores, differentiation between resource competition and chemical interference as well as attraction for the oviposition of specialized herbivores.
