Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
It is an aim of these practical exercises to get hands-on experience in the recognition of symmetry and anisotropic physical features of crystals such as mechanical and optical properties. Moreover, the most common rock-forming and ore minerals are presented and, in addition to mere recognition, students learn simple chemical and physical methods (applicable also in the class room) to identify them.
Assessment and permitted materials
PI! 2 written Sub-exams during the course (on symmetry and identification of minerals) and 1 practical sub-exam at the end of the course (identification of symmetry and minerals)
