Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the practicum is to train students in how to i) approach scientific questions, ii) design and conduct experiments and iii) disseminate the findings via oral presentations and a written report. Students will work in small teams on research projects currently pursued in the Dept of Cognitive Biology, allowing them to get a glimpse on the empirical side of hot topics in cognition. The course shall raise awareness of what is needed in research and prepare students for conducting their master thesis.

Assessment and permitted materials

Combination of i) oral presentations, ii) written report, and iii) quality in participation (data collection, analysis, discussion)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Ability & capacity to conduct empirical study, structured in three units: i) development of a project proposal, ii) data collection and analysis and iii) presentation of results
