Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture deals with the implementation of Birds and Habitats Directive in Austria.
The emphasis lies on the selection of proper sites under the both Directives for the NATURA 2000 network, the evaluation of the site selection, the mapping of habitats and species within the sites, methods for the definition of favourable conservation status for habitats and species, the establishment of management plans and the impact assessments.
