300701 VO Aquatic Palaeo-Ecosystems (2008S)

During the lectures, each coral family (including fire corals and a few other non scleractinians, producing skeletons) is explained in detail, supported by media (overhead, slides, powerpoint). In the course afterwards, personal assistance and appropriate literature for determination is provided. Later in the course, when all coral families were introduced and advanced knowledge can be assumed, mixed material is presented. This gives good opportunity to repeat and train for the final examination, when 10 specimens have to be determined to genus level. During this examination personal notes and the provided literature can be used by the participants.
