Aims, contents and method of the course
The course covers the period of about 4 billion years ago when life is thought to have arised to the beginning of the Cambrium about 550 million years ago when most of the animal phyla appeared in the so-called cambrian explosion. The course draws on evidence from molecular genetics, structure and function of extant and fossil organisms and geology.
