Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Communicating science in English is a skill that must be learned, even by native English speakers. Participants in this course will gain confidence communicating their observations and ideas in English in a scientific context through guided exercises in writing and speaking. Participants will also practice giving and receiving feedback. It is ideal for students that are, or will soon be, preparing their own independent contributions to the scientific literature (e.g., thesis). The the course can be taken by non-native and native English speakers who would like to improve their skills. We will cover topics such as:
Why is scientific writing so horrible?
Writing strategy - developing good writing habits
Structuring sentences, paragraphs, and documents such as theses or original research articles
Revision
Publication and peer review
Using AI to support scientific writing
...and many more.
